#438 - Joe Torre

What a card: Joe Torre had completed his third and final season for the Braves when this card was created. In fact, he had already been fired by Atlanta. He was let go the day after the season ended back in October 1984.

My observation on the front: I like how the sun is glinting off the bleachers. It looks even cooler looking at the card here in my hand.

More opinion from me: Nothing that hasn't been said before, but Torre rarely takes a good picture.

Something you might know: Torre went from hard-luck manager to Hall of Fame manager by winning four World Series titles with the Yankees.

Something you might not know: Torre wasn't the Braves' first choice as manager. The front office had recommended hiring Triple A manager Eddie Haas, but owner Ted Turner overruled them. Three years later, the Braves hired Haas to replace Torre.

My observation on the back: Shhh, don't tell anybody, but Torre lost 649 games for the Mets and Braves between 1977-84.
