#437 - Al Jones

What a card: This is Al Jones' rookie card. He appeared in 20 games for the White Sox in 1984, totaling 20 1/3 innings.

My observation on the front: Well, we know that Jones isn't wearing anybody else's cap.

More opinion from me: Jones has just two Topps cards. His 1986 card looks very similar to his '85 card, although they appear to be taken at different times.

Something you might know: The majority of Jones' major league time came in 1984 as he pitched in just 27 career games. Jones closed a few games for Chicago that season, saving five, which was third-most on the team.

Something you might not know: Jones is considered one of the top pitchers of the 1980s for the White Sox's Midwest League Class A team at the time, the Appleton Foxes. In 1983, he made 55 appearances, saved 22 games and went 11-1 for the Foxes.

My observation on the back: At 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, "toothpick" seems appropriate.

The trivia question is missing a word: Who.
