#111T - Chris Speier

What a card: Chris Speier signed as a free agent with the Cubs on April 8, 1985. It marked his fourth team in a nine-month period.

How'd that go: Speier played in 106 games for the Cubs in 1985, his most playing time since 1982 when he was with the Expos. The season helped him get back on track after the whirlwind of 1984.

Backatya: The Ste. Adele, Quebec hometown listing is interesting just because I don't remember hearing about players living in Quebec that much, although it makes sense for someone who played with the Expos for a period. Speier's home started being listed as in Quebec with his 1981 Topps card and switched to Scottsdale, Ariz., with his 1987 card.

Back-to-back: Speier redeems himself -- or should I say 'Topps redeems itself' -- with the Traded card, after that airbrushed alternate reality item from flagship.

Speier's flagship card is No. 577 and was originally blogged on Sept. 19, 2016.

The blog wants to speak now: The Ballgames category is updated with the first "summing up" of categories for this blog.
