#98T - Dave Rucker

What a card: Dave Rucker arrived with the Phillies after a career year with St. Louis in 1984. The Cardinals traded him on April 6, 1985 to Philadelphia for pitcher Bill Campbell and shortstop Ivan DeJesus.

How'd that go: Well, Rucker didn't do as well in '85, putting up a 4.31 ERA in 39 appearances. But it was difficult to match that 50-appearance, 2.10-ERA season with the Cards.

Backatya: LaVerne College -- actually the University of La Verne -- is also the alma mater of late, great relief pitcher Dan Quisenberry.

Back-to-back: The traded card is an interesting one just because it is a pose I've seen countless times on '70s and '80s baseball cards -- the ol' follow-through -- but it is cropped so tightly, I don't think I've ever seen it presented that way elsewhere. It's interesting.

The flagship card is No. 421 in the set and was originally blogged on June 11, 2015.

The blog wants to speak now: The Other Cards tab is updated.
